Math Quality Instruction (MQI) Coaching+
The MQI Coaching+ Program provides math instructional coaches with training to lead professional learning communities (PLCs) and provide individualized coaching aimed at improving the mathematical quality of teachers’ instruction. The MQI Coaching+ program includes the following:
- A structured, mathematics-specific rubric, the MQI, to frame all coaching conversations and help teachers set and monitor explicit instructional improvement goals; and
- Extensive opportunities for teachers to analyze video recordings of instructional routines from other teachers and their own lessons to identify specific aspects of instruction to improve and practice and receive feedback implementing instructional routines for ongoing improvement.
This study aims to understand how the implementation of the MQI Coaching+ program impacts 4th-5th grade math instruction and student outcomes within participating schools.
